Charities often host golf events to raise money. Because of their charitable classification, they are commonly tax exempt. There is an easy procedure to remove the taxes from the transactions of a specific customer and to document which sales have been designated as tax exempt.
Customer Set Up
Prior to setting up a tax-exempt customer, be sure to obtain the documents to verify the tax-exempt status. Though a customer may be eligible for certain tax exemptions, he/she may not be exempt from all taxes. Make sure you understand which taxes they are not required to pay. It is also important to document their tax exempt number for audit purposes.
1) Log into Fore! Reservations.
2) View | Customers.
3) Highlight the customer to be marked as tax exempt. Click the Change button.
4) Select the Sales tab and then the Setup subtab.
5) Place a check in the checkbox next to any or all of the taxes that this customer has exemption.
6) Click the OK button to save your changes.

Report
To document your tax exempt invoices, you can print a report. The report identifies the invoice number, invoice date and time, customer, user, items on the invoice, as well as the invoice dollar total.
1) Log into Fore! Reservations, and go to View | Fore! Sell.
2) View | Reports | Exceptions | Tax Exempt Invoices.
3) Click the Print button. Depending on the number of customers, the amount of account activity and the speed of your computer, it may take many minutes before the report appears in the Print Preview window.
4) Once the report appears in preview, click the printer button to print the report.
5) Close the Print Preview screen by clicking the Windows close button in the upper right corner.
6) Close the Print Tax Exempt Invoices window by clicking the Close button.
